BRATISLAVA, January 25, (WEBNOVINY) — Improving the business environment would bring more jobs than big public investments, shows a survey conducted by MVK polling agency. It surveyed 1,145 respondents between January 5 and January 11.
When responding to the question on which measures could bring more new jobs, respondents could choose between improving the business environment and big public sector investments. According to the results, 44.3 percent upheld the opinion that the more efficient cure of unemployment is better conditions for employers. This would mean less interventions in doing business, lower taxes and payroll levies and more flexible Labor Code. The second alternative of state investments in construction of big public projects including power stations or highways was supported by 27.6 percent of respondents.
Voters of all big political parties including the opposition SMER-SD acknowledge a greater contribution of measures to improve the business environment for creation of new jobs compared to big public investments. Among SMER-SD supporters, the ratio of those who prefer bettering conditions for business and those preferring big public investments is 40.2 percent to 37.3 percent. Voters of center-right parties incline more to improving the business environment with ratio being at 46.2 percent to 29.3 percent with KDH, 50.8 percent to 16.8 percent in the case of the Ordinary People and Independent Personalities, 52 percent to 24.7 percent within the case of MOST-HID, 53.1 percent to 20.3 percent in the case of SaS while SDKU-DS sympathizers give the most unambiguous preference to improving the business environment over investments (62.8 percent to 14.4 percent).
