Sloboda a Solidarita is the only political party which is considering the sale of state’s shares in SPP, or in companies SPP-distribucia or Eustream, where the state holds a 51-percent stake, to new shareholders.
The political war over the shareholder future of the largest natural gas supplier, the company Slovensky Plynarensky Priemysel (SPP), broke out around two years ago. While the ruling government of Smer-SD started working on the takeover of a 49-percent stake in SPP in hands of a new shareholder Energeticky a Prumyslovy Holding (EPH), almost entire opposition raised the alarm. Opposition politicians called it dirty business between the ruling party and oligarchs or financial groups which controlled EPH. We asked political parties what they would do with the 100 percent state ownership in SPP in case of their victory in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
