Slovak households and businesses will not pay higher electricity bills due to a higher nuclear waste disposal levy this year. The levy, which tackles the historic debt which arose after creating the financial sources to cover the costs of the back-end of the nuclear cycle, changed according to the last year’s inflation every year in July since the beginning of this decade. As of this year, the government regulation sets the levy. The Cabinet decided to leave the levy unchanged at 3.27 euros per 1 MWh of electricity despite last year’s inflation of 2.5 percent.
