Unemployment Rate in September Rose to 12.42

BRATISLAVA, October 19, (WEBNOVINY) — Unemployment rate in Slovakia at the end of September increased 0.23 percentage points m/m to 12.42 percent, reported the Central Office for Labor. In year-on-year terms, the rate of registered unemployment fell 0.03 percentage points last month. Labor offices registered altogether 333,841 unemployed people who were able to immediately start working. Compared with the end of August, this was an increase by 6,374 people, while on a year-on-year basis it was an increase by 3,981 workers.

The overall number of job applicants recorded by labor offices was 377,007 in late September. This is a month-on-month decrease of 6,336 people and a year-on-year increase of 8,986 job seekers. At the end of the ninth month the rate of unemployment calculated from the overall number of registered job applicants was 14.03 percent, up 0.24 percentage points m/m and up 0.14 percentage points y/y.
