BRATISLAVA, May 1, (WEBNOVINY) — The opposition SMER-SD party has not yet submitted to parliament a proposal for an unscheduled session, at which it wants to oust Prime Minister Iveta Radicova in a no-confidence vote. In the middle of last month, SMER-SD leader and former Prime Minister Robert Fico announced they would submit the proposal to parliament after Easter. Once a motion signed by thirty members of parliament is submitted, Speaker of Parliament Richard Sulik (SaS) will be obliged to convene a parliamentary session within seven days.
SMER-SD said Radicova no longer deserves to be prime minister because she was the greatest liar in history of Slovak politics. According to Fico, following the scandal with renting the Kosice building to the Tax Directorate is a textbook example of party cronyism and SDKU-DS thievery and Radicova does not deserve their respect as prime minister. He claimed it was in Radicova’s competence to resolve the matter by sacking Finance Minister Miklos.
A dispute between the prime minister and finance minister originated for their different views on the responsibility of the Director General of the Tax Directorate Miroslav Mikulcik regarding the rent of a building for the Tax Office in Kosice from the firm of the district SDKU-DS regional chief in Nitra. Radicova demanded his resignation, while Miklos told him to remain in office. Eventually, Mikulcik resigned just before Easter after Prime Minister Radicova refused to attend a Cabinet session and threatened to resign herself.
