KOSICE, September 10, (WEBNOVINY) – The governing coalition member MOST-HID will support the EU bailout fund in parliament. “The vote on the EU bailout fund is also a vote on the future place and position of Slovakia, on what the future of Europe will be like. We will support it,” stated MOST-HID Chairman Bela Bugar after the fifth party’s congress, held in Kosice this Saturday. Bugar went on to say that it is our duty to behave responsibly and contribute to stabilization of the European Union as well as the euro zone. He added that at Monday’s meeting of all coalition deputies and Cabinet members, the question of connecting the vote on the bailout fund with the motion of confidence in the government will definitely be debated. This question is already on the table of coalition partners, he added. MOST-HID stressed that the party will not support the no-confidence motion in Prime Minister Iveta Radicova, proposed to the parliament by the opposition SMER-SD party of Robert Fico.
Bugar further reported that within budgetary talks, MOST-HID considers as priority support of rural employment and farmers, as well as their sales. The Environment Ministry’s priority are flood-prevention measures.
The party leader went on to say that there is no tension inside the party. The party has approximately 4,500 members at present, while the ratio of ethnic Hungarians to Slovaks is 7:3.
