More Slovak Women than Men Use Social Networks

BRATISLAVA, July 6, (WEBNOVINY) — Nearly 42 percent of Internet users in Slovakia use social networks on a daily basis. Women, however, communicate more often using these networks, according to results from a survey by the portal heureka.sk. Approximately 23 percent of those surveyed either were not familiar with the term “social networks”, or have not created a profile on a network. The remaining 35 percent of respondents visit a social network, such as Facebook, only occasionally.

“Women visit social networks more than men. Fifty-one percent of women visit social networks several times a week, or every day, while among of men using the Internet it is only 34 percent”, stated Marek Brumlich, project manager of heureka.sk. Further, seventeen percent of surveyed women and 28 percent of men do not have a profile created on any social network.

“One of the forms of social networking are independent Internet websites to compare products, on which customers of Internet stores share experience with on-line shopping to evaluate individual products and e-shops with the objective to help other users in shopping,” noted Brumlich. Forty-one percent of those polled e-shopping customers almost always share their experience on product-comparing portals. However, 31 percent said they share their opinion of products only in the event of an exceptionally good or bad experience.
