Fewer Cars were Sold in Slovakia Last Year

BRATISLAVA, January 10, (WEBNOVINY) — As many as 70,951 new passenger cars and small utility vehicles of up to 3.5 tons were registered in Slovakia over twelve months of 2010, according to the Association of the Slovak Automotive Industry. The number of registered cars tumbled by 21.54 percent in spite of the gradually unfolding positive development particularly in Q4 2010.

The number of car registrations swelled 28.67 percent in annual terms to 8,330 in December. As the association informed, the last moth of 2010 was the third consecutive month that saw a significant increase in car sales and the second best result of all the previous months. Car sales went up 36.21 percent in November and 11.03 percent in October.

The twelve-month chart of the best-selling cars changed compared to the eleven-month ranking. Skoda, however, keeps its top position (19.21 percent), followed by Renault (7.03 percent), Volkswagen (6.94 percent), Peugeot (6.68 percent), KIA (6.16 percent), Citroen (6.10 percent), Hyundai (4.75 percent), Fiat (4.30 percent), Toyota/Lexus (4.27 percent), Ford (4.11 percent), Suzuki (4.06 percent) and Opel (3.76 percent).
