BRATISLAVA, September 14, (WEBNOVINY) — Production in the carmaker PSA Peugeot Citroen based in Trnava has been on hiatus for the fourth day, while all employees are at home. The reason behind it is a shortfall in supplies of components from an exclusive foreign supplier. “In spite of mobilization and efforts of the entire PSA group, we were not able to prevent a several-day suspension of production. The first announced pause was planned for three working days – Friday, Monday and Tuesday, but as the problems with supplier persist, we interrupted production for today [Wednesday] and Friday, September 16, stated the carmakers’ spokeswoman Ivana Pavelkova.
Employees’ wages will not be reduced, they will also be entitled to the monthly collective bonus. Recruiting for the third shift continues, too. In July 2012, 800 new jobs are to be open in the plant. The company is to decide on Sunday whether production will be renewed as of next week.
PSA presently employs some 3,000 people in Slovakia.
