BRATISLAVA, February 22, (WEBNOVINY) – The number of people eligible for benefits in material need as of late January increased by 70 from a month ago to 185,300. According to the figures presented by the Central Office of Labor, Social Affairs and Family, the number of beneficiaries dropped by 4,600 in annual terms. After considering other family members, 360,500 persons depended on material-need benefits at the end of the first month, representing 6.66 percent of Slovakia’s population.
Districts that reported the most beneficiaries in January were Revuca (9,500 people; 23.55 percent of local residents), Rimavska Sobota (18,300; 22.15 percent) and Roznava (12,100; almost 19.63 percent). Traditionally, the five Bratislava districts registered the lowest number of recipients between 0.56 and 1.03 percent of their population.
