Mining company Hornonitrianske Bane Prievidza dispatched nearly 2 million tons of coal to its customers last year, of which nearly 1.9 million tons headed to the coal-powered power plant in Novaky.
Mining in Slovakia survives mainly thanks to the obligatory electricity production from coal at the coal-power plant in Novaky. Data provided by the company Hornonitrianske Bane Prievidza (HBP) last year prove it. Company’s spokeswoman, Andrea Sivakova, informed the portal vEnergetike.sk that the company had dispatched nearly 2 million tons of coal to its customers last year, of which nearly 1.9 million tons had been delivered to the coal-powered power plant in Novaky. The rest was divided between the company Bukoza Energo and USS Kosice, households and small companies for heating purposes. „We have created conditions to meet the planned production of electricity and heat from national brown coal. We have fulfilled all customers’ requirements,“ Sivakova evaluated last year.
