BRATISLAVA, January 8, (WEBNOVINY) — The opposition party SMER-SD will present to the public the party’s presidential candidate after the early parliamentary elections that will take place on March 10 of this year. „If someone wants to be successful as president, one and a half to two years in advance he/she must announce his/her candidacy and work really hard for this candidacy. So, let’s wait how the cards are dealt in the parliamentary elections. It would be only fair then when gradually the political parties came forward and presented their presidential nominations. That is was SMER-SD will certainly do, “ said the party chairman and former Prime Minister Robert Fico for SITA news agency.
According to Fico, it would be bad if SMER-SD that is in a very good shape in terms of internal structures and that is proving to be a very stable party that has the greatest support in the public in Slovakia would be unable to field a relevant presidential candidate. „We will certainly look for a candidate who would be a party candidate of SMER-SD,“ said Fico.
