BRATISLAVA, June 3, (WEBNOVINY) — Speaker of Parliament and leader of the SaS party Richard Sulik announced on Friday that the ruling coalition leaders as well as the prime minister have accepted the nomination of Juraj Kliment for the post of director of the National Security Office (NBU). Kliment is now a judge at the Supreme Court.

The previous two candidates of the SaS party failed due to lack of support of all ruling coalition members. Jan Stano did not get the coalition’s support because he had worked for the intelligence service, the SIS, in the era of Ivan Lexa. The spy service was suspected of involvement in illegal activities at that time. The SDKU-DS objected to the nomination of suspended Supreme Court Judge Peter Paluda because of his public statements before his nomination was discussed with coalition partners.

The Coalition Council is to discuss the nomination of Kliment to the post of NBU head on Monday.
