Nine-Month Average Monthly Wage in Slovakia was EUR 765

BRATISLAVA, December 6, (WEBNOVINY) – The nominal monthly wage in the national economy averaged EUR 765 during the first nine months of this year, coming up by 2.8 percent in annualized terms. The real wage, in contrast, sank by 0.9 percent, the Statistics Office of the Slovak Republic announced Tuesday. The H1 average nominal wage was EUR 763.

The average nominal wage in Q3 alone came up by 2.5 percent to EUR 769. The real wage fell by 1.4 percent in annual terms because consumer prices grew more than the nominal wage. Net of seasonal influences, the nominal wage increased 0.5 percent versus Q2.

The ICT sector paid the best (EUR 1,548), followed by financial and insurance services (EUR 1,423) and supplies of electricity and gas (EUR 1,365). The Statistics Office found that the lowest wage was paid in HORECA services (EUR 542), other services (EUR 608) and the building industry (EUR 609).

The relatively strongest increase in the nominal wage was recorded in the ICT sector (+14.3 percent), supplies of electricity and gas (+10.3 percent), financial and insurance services (+8.1 percent) and mining and extraction of raw mineral materials (+7.9 percent). Four sectors paid less, while the real estate sector saw the steepest decline by 2.4 percent.
