BRATISLAVA. September 20, (WEBNOVINY) — The rate of registered unemployment rate in Slovakia dropped 0.03 percentage points month-over-month to 13.12 percent in August. A year ago, the indicator stood at 12.19 percent. The Central Office for Labor, Social affairs and Family reported that the number of jobseekers able to take up a job immediately reached 349,885 in the observed period. Compared with June, the number shrank by 848. At the end of August 2010, there were 327,467 jobless people able to start to work on the spot.
On the whole, labor offices registered 384,220 jobless persons in August, which was a m/m decline by 2,087. The unemployment rate calculated from the overall number of jobseekers represented 14.40 percent, which was 0.08 percentage points less from July 2011.
Labor offices in Slovakia reported 22,236 new jobseekers in August, a figure lower by 5,202 versus July. As many as 24,323 unemployed persons were deregistered, up by 208 in monthly terms. The average duration of registration in August represented 14 months, up 0.06 months from July.
Six counties reported a decline in jobless rate in the eighth month of this year. The indicator dropped the most in the Nitra County, 0.12 percentage points to 12.58 percent. The Zilina County saw a 0.11-percentage point decrease to 11.30 percent and the Presov County posted a 0.09-percentage point slump to 18.42 percent. The jobless rate in the Banska Bystrica County fell by 0.02 percentage points to 19.13 percent. The Trencin County posted a 0.02-percentage point drop to 9.40 percent. The Kosice County witnessed a 0.01-percentage point decrease to 18.39 percent.
The unemployment rate increased 0.09 percentage points to 8.55 percent in the Trnava County and 0.06 percentage points to 5.42 percent.
