BRATISLAVA, October 29, (WEBNOVINY) — Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak arrived for an official visit to Slovakia on Friday. Military brass band played the national anthem of his country before the start of negotiations with Slovak Defense Minister Lubomir Galko. „I must say that I cannot remember having heard our anthem played with such perfection – by not our – military orchestra,“ Barak was quoted as saying.
The Slovak Defense ministry offered their Israeli colleagues three specific possibilities of cooperation. „We have offered our partner the use of special training facilities of our military medical institute, the training area Lest for members of the Israeli armed forces,“ said Galko, adding that in this area, they could also share their experience. He also offered bilateral cooperation in disposal of unexploded ordnance, in which Slovakia is a leader in NATO and is building a Center of Excellence. Israel in turn has exceptional experience in this field. Israel could also use the Slovak mine-clearing system Bozena. „We have offered cooperation in the exchange of experience of armed forces and potentially also training in using the mine-clearing system Bozena 4 in the event that the State of Israel decided to purchase and use these systems,“ said Galko.
If Israel decides to use some of the offers, an expert commission that was established will help find technical possibilities for their solution. „We will deal with the offers and create a team to assess them,“ said Barak.
