Industrial Producer Prices Grew Faster in October

BRATISLAVA, November 29, (WEBNOVINY) – The growth of industrial prices in Slovakia picked up in October. After the indicator went up by 1.9 percent y/y in September, its growth rate reached 2.1 percent in October. Prices of industrial producers for the local market continued sinking in annual terms and their drop deepened from 0.7 percent in the ninth month to 1 percent in the tenth month. The growth of export prices, in contrast, accelerated from 4.2 percent in September to 4.8 percent in October, informed the Statistics Office of the Slovak Republic.

Industrial prices for the local market shrank in a year-over-year comparison due to a drop in prices for distribution of electricity, gas, steam and cool air of 4.7 percent. Prices of mining and extraction of raw mineral materials rose by 8.8 percent. Prices of distribution of drinking water, purification, drainage of wastewater and other related services went up 6.4 percent and prices of industrial manufacturing jumped 1.4 percent. The growth of export prices was bolstered by an increase in prices of industrial manufacturing (+5.1 percent) and prices of mining and extraction of raw mineral material (+7.1 percent). Prices for distribution of electricity, gas, steam and cool air dwindled 6.6 percent.

Since the beginning of the year, industrial producer prices for the local market tumbled 3.1 percent y/y on average. This is attributable to a decrease in prices for distribution of electricity, gas, steam and cool air (-7.2 percent) and prices of industrial manufacturing (-0.2 percent). Prices of mining and extraction of raw mineral materials did not change. Prices of distribution of drinking water, purification, drainage of wastewater and other related services went up 6.2 percent. Export prices have grown 2.3 percent since the year’s beginning, under the influence of higher prices of mining and extraction of mineral materials by 10.4 percent and industrial manufacturing by 2.5 percent. In monthly terms, prices of industrial producers for the local market decreased 0.2 percent in October. Export prices grew 0.2 percent m/m. Prices of agricultural products rose 38 percent y/y in October. Prices of construction works swelled 0.1 percent m/m. Compared to a year ago, prices of construction works ticked up 1.1 percent in October. Since the beginning of the year, prices of construction works have come up by 1 percent.
