BRATISLAVA, June 29, (WEBNOVINY) – Building technical infrastructure for transition from analog to digital terrestrial TV broadcasting in Slovakia has been completed. On Wednesday, the launch of broadcasting of the second public service multiplex from the transmitter Bratislava Kamzik completed building the basic network of DVB-T (digital terrestrial TV broadcasting) transmitters in Slovakia. It means that more than 95 percent of Slovakia households can enjoy advantages of digital TV broadcasting.
As Peter Valentovic of the company Towercom told journalists on Wednesday, construction of the DVB-T network cost Towercom, the operator of DVB-T in Slovakia, dozens of millions of euros. It is very difficult to calculate the precise sum as the network was built on existing analogue transmitters. According to Valentovic, the completion of the network of DVB-T transmitter of the commercial and public service multiplex is comparable with the historic launch of analog TV broadcasting in November 1956. Transmission of analog TV signal should be switched off at the end of this year.
