Bratislava to Host Extended V4+ Meeting on Tuesday

BRATISLAVA, February 13, (WEBNOVINY) – The Slovak capital will host a meeting of prime ministers of V4 countries (Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland) with heads of governments of Germany, Austria and Ukraine on Tuesday (February 15). The summit will be held on the day celebrating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Visegrad Group (V4) regional platform. The press and information department of the Office of the Slovak Government informed about this event.

Prime Ministers of Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland – Iveta Radicova, Petr Necas, Viktor Orban and Donald Tusk will discuss the program of Slovakia’s V4 presidency, cooperation of the member states in various areas and questions pertaining to the EU membership.

The press release provided by the Office of the Slovak Government reads that the partners will focus on European energy security, EU economic government, preparations of the EU multiannual financial framework, problems in the euro zone and the debt crisis. The prime ministers will pass a common declaration on the 20th anniversary and future tasks of the Visegrad Group.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann and Ukraine’s Prime Minister Mykola Azarov will participate in the second part of the meeting upon the invitation of Slovak Prime Minister Iveta Radicova. The key topics of the extended V4+ meeting will be energy, EU neighborhood policy, the Eastern Partnership and regional cooperation in crisis management.
