BRATISLAVA, September 6, (WEBNOVINY) – The average nominal monthly wage in the Slovak economy reached EUR 763 in the first half of this year, up three percent y/y. On the other hand, real wage decreased by 0.6 percent, reported the Statistics Office of the Slovak Republic on Tuesday.
The average nominal monthly wage of an employee in the national economy in the second quarter of this year rose three percent y/y to EUR 781. Real wage dropped 0.9 percent under the influence of a higher growth of consumer prices compared with the growth of nominal wage. Seasonally adjusted nominal wage grew 0.7 percent q/q.
The highest average nominal monthly wage of EUR 1,693 was in financial and insurance services. In the ICT sector, the wage represented EUR 1,482, and in the production and distribution of electricity and natural gas EUR 1,477. Employees in accommodation and restaurant services received the lowest wage of EUR 479. Other services paid EUR 575, farming, forestry, and fisheries EUR 580, thereof in farming, the average nominal monthly wage represented EUR 579.
The steepest increase in nominal wage in the second quarter of this year was reported in the distribution of electricity and natural gas, of 14.9 percent. The wage in financial and insurance services rose 11.6 percent, in mining and extraction of raw materials 9.1 percent, and in the ICT sector 8.3 percent. The average wage decreased only in public administration, defense and social security by 3.4 percent.
In all Slovak counties, the average nominal monthly wage in the second quarter was higher than a year ago. It grew the most, by 4.9 percent, in Trnava County. In Bratislava County, the average nominal monthly wage exceeded the national average, when it reached EUR 997.
