Americans Will Train Customs Officers on WMDs

BRATISLAVA, October 4, (WEBNOVINY) – Nonproliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction is the title of a training program that has started in Kosice on Monday. It is organized by the U.S. Department of Defense in cooperation with the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security.

During an almost week-long training, the participants will gain basic knowledge of all categories of weapons of mass destruction: chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, as well as knowledge of explosives. Through case studies, the organizers will point out possible risks related to materials that could be used to produce of weapons of mass destruction. Participants of the training will be further learn about current trends related to weapons of mass destruction at the global, regional, and local scale and also about mutual relations between weapons of mass destruction and terrorism, announced the spokesperson for Slovakia’s Customs Directorate Miroslava Slemenska.

In addition to customs officers, also taking part will be officers Border and Foreigner Police of the Interior Ministry, experts from the department of economic and environmental crime of the Police Corps, officers of the Anti-terrorist Unit of the Police Corps, a representative of the Office for International Police Cooperation of the Police Corps and also people from the office of the Prosecutor General.
