BRATISLAVA, January 30, (WEBNOVINY) — The opposition parliamentary party SNS is concerned about possible election fraud in vote counting in the upcoming March 10 early parliamentary elections. Its leadership meeting in Zilina on Monday instructed district and regional chairmen to supervise parallel counting of votes in each election precinct. “Experience from the previous elections taught us lessons on what fraud can be done not only during the voting itself but also with software providing information to the Central Election Commission,“ SNS spokeswoman Jana Benkova cited SNS leader Jan Slota as saying. According to him, their counting showed that numbers of votes in some election precincts differed from the figures published by the Central Election Commission.
After 2010 elections, Slota insisted that the race had been manipulated to the detriment of SNS. He explained that the party did not turn to the court as they received information on cheating only after the law-set period lapsed. The SNS ultimately narrowly passed the five-percent quorum to make it to parliament and took nine deputy seats. After Anna Belousovova and Rudolf Pucik quit the party the SNS deputy caucus features seven members.
