BRATISLAVA, October 26, (WEBNOVINY) — More than 400 Slovak soldiers completed their training mission in the German military training area Hohenfels, where they participated in the operation “Pile Driver” and accomplished the main task of the international exercise „Full Spectrum Operations”. Armed forces of Bulgaria, Poland and Slovenia took part in the one-month international training besides Slovak and US soldiers. Together almost 7,000 soldiers attended the training. Slovak soldiers were tasked to establish units of the opponent with their own command in the operation.
Slovak soldiers won appreciation of the US partner for professional performance during the whole training and head of the 1st battalion of the 4th infantry brigade of the US Army, Lt. Col. Mitchell O. Watkins, awarded certificates to the Slovak soldiers. The Slovak unit was dispatched to the training premises of Hohenfels in Germany based on an offer of the US Army Command in Europe.
The goal of the training was to gain experience from the US partner from various international operations as well as the possibility to use this training opportunity for coordinating units and supplementing national and supranational preparation of units designated for fulfillment of international obligations.
