Number of Foreigners Working in Slovakia Continues Growing

BRATISLAVA, October 31, (WEBNOVINY) — At the end of September of this year, 21,700 foreigners officially worked in Slovakia. This is almost 3,700 more than in the same period a year ago, according to data of the Central Office for Labor, Social Affairs and Family. Most foreigners active on the Slovak labor market are citizens of Romania: there were nearly 4,400 of them as of late September, which is 1,400 more than last year. 3,300 workers came from the Czech Republic, meaning a year-on-year increase of 625 individuals. Over 2,100 Poles and almost 2,200 Hungarians worked in Slovakia, which is an increase of 233 in the case of Poles and 496 in the case of Hungarians.

At the end of the ninth month of this year, one in three working foreigners in Slovakia worked in Bratislava. The number of working foreigners in Bratislava was nearly 7,600. Trnava County with over 1,800 foreigners followed. More than 1,100 working foreigners were registered at Galanta Labor Office, while in Nitra it was close to 1,000. According to statistics, not a single foreigner worked in Poltar district.
