BRATISLAVA, August 3, (WEBNOVINY) – The government’s program statement is not credible since it does not offer any solutions, believes the leader of the opposition SMER-SD Robert Fico after Prime Minister Iveta Radicova introduced the program statement in parliament on Tuesday.
“I did not believe a single word,” Fico commented on the Radicova’s speech. The government program offers only one fundamental change: namely privatization, deregulation, the weakening of the welfare state and liberalization, according to Fico. “Starting tomorrow, SMER-SD deputies will show in discussion that Cabinet’s Program Statement is very weak and does not present any change,” Fico noted. He drew attention to the fact that the prime minister repeatedly talked about the disruption of public finances while the new Cabinet is preparing measures that will increase the load on the state budget, like more money into science and research or stabilization of the second pension pillar. At the same time he wondered how anybody can talk about fighting against corruption and caring for the family if they cooperate with people like Mikulas Dzurinda, Ivan Miklos, and Ludovit Kanik.
