BRATISLAVA, March 3, (WEBNOVINY) – The International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) is carefully watching Slovakia due to opportunities for further expansion in Europe. “We do not have an exact plan for expansion in Europe but Slovakia is within our focus. You have the appropriate preconditions. You have people, experience and skills. Slovakia is an attractive country in an attractive locality. We have technology, you have people. We are hopeful that our cooperation will widen perhaps already this year and we believe that this will happen”, Vice President of IBM Governmental Programs Chris Padilla stated after his meeting with Slovak Economy Minister Juraj Miskov.
During his business trip to the United States, Miskov offered “exciting reforms” planned by the incumbent government, among others. “We will do our utmost to preserve IBM’s interest in our country in the future. The reform effort of this government to improve the business environment in Slovakia will certainly contribute to this aim. A very exciting period awaits us, full of positive changes that fill me with optimism. We have exciting reforms ahead of us,” Miskov pledged enthusiastically. In addition to the payroll levy reform, the amendment to the Labor Code is underway, too. “We have adopted radical measures to battle corruption, and we have started posting contracts on the Internet and in e-auctions to increase transparency,” the minister continued.

IBM has been operating in Slovakia since 1990. An independent arm was established in 1992. IBM headquarters in Slovakia is located in the Slovak capital; its arms are in Banska Bystrica and Kosice.
