BRATISLAVA, August 17, (WEBNOVINY) — Prime Minister Iveta Radicova has returned home from Croatia where she was on holiday as of Saturday. She is back due to repeated massive flooding in the Upper Nitra area, which hit also other parts of Slovakia. Flash floods have claimed one fatality and one person is still missing. Material damages on public infrastructure are very extensive.
The spokesman for the prime minister Rado Bato announced that the prime minister is to visit flood-stricken areas already on Tuesday. On Wednesday, she will lead the Cabinet’s session, which will debate assistance to towns and citizens hit by floods. Finance Minister Ivan Miklos is to submit a proposal to allocate EUR 11 million for rescue and relief works.
