The Regulatory Office for Network Industries (URSO) says that there is satisfactory competition on the Slovak energy market which could lower prices of electricity or gas for households.
The Regulatory Office for Network Industries (URSO) does not intend for now to reduce prices of electricity or gas for households. Prime Minister Robert Fico spoke about the possible reduction of energy prices at the conference Energy Security and Energy Union Establishment held at the end of March. The office states that it closely monitors the development of electricity and gas prices on the international markets and may initiate the price procedure, provided the downward trend is long-term and considerable. However, a spokesman for the Regulatory Office for Network Industries Miroslav Luptak informed the portal vEnergetike.sk that it is not in office’s interest to interfere in the operation of the market at any price. He says that Slovak households could see prices of electricity and gas to decline during the year, particularly thanks to competition.
