BRATISLAVA, December 14, (WEBNOVINY)- MOST-HID Chairman Bela Bugar told journalists after the Coalition Council’s sitting on Monday evening that there is still trust within the ruling coalition. He said that there had existed individual opinions of parliamentary deputies regarding the prosecutor general election but these did not represent opinions of political parties. “It was a theater. It was undignified to speak about who took pictures and showed [them]. We are able to achieve more. We trust each other. Trust persists”, stated Bugar.
The MOST-HID leader however said last week that his faith in the ruling coalition was dented. His statement came on the heels of accusations that some MPs for his party failed to support the joint coalition candidate Jozef Centes for the prosecutor general post in the secret ballot in parliament. SDKU’s MP Zoltan Horvath accused MOST-HID’s Elemer Jakab of having provided an alibi for his party mates who voted for Centes’ opponent, the incumbent Prosecutor General Dobroslav Trnka. Bugar said before the Coalition Council’s sitting that they will demand apology from the SDKU deputy.
The loss of trust was the reason why the MOST-HID leadership sat before coalition leaders came together over the situation within the coalition. Before the meeting of coalition leaders and heads of coalition’s deputy clubs Prime Minister Iveta Radicova said that there is no crisis in the coalition and that she does not know about any crucial problem among the ruling partners.
SaS leader Richard Sulik said that unlike its predecessor, the current coalition is a coalition of four equal partners/ He said that they discuss much more that the previous coalition and though sometimes it happens that things are leaked and published in the media it does not mean that they do not know what to do. He is sorry that the situation around the new prosecutor general overshadowed 120 good laws, which they had adopted, but people will feel it. “We drew lessons from a drama around the prosecutor general in order to not repeat the same mistake“, he said.
