BRATISLAVA, January 16, (WEBNOVINY) – On the occasion of the 140th anniversary of its establishment, the opposition Slovak National Party (SNS) led by Jan Slota is preparing a new program. “The program will contain a number of current topics brought by the 21st century. In connection to our national, Christian, and social pillars of the SNS and our membership in the European Union, we are opening a whole-social discussion: the issue of Islam and growing wave of Islam in Europe, which affects several countries and will also affect Slovakia,” said SNS deputy leader Andrej Danko for SITA news agency.
According to Danko, the SNS is not instigating any national, ethnic, or religious conflicts, or a discussion aimed at evaluating which religion is better or worse. “We are, however, pointing out that in the EU, as German Chancellor Angela Merkel confirmed, too, there are experiments in cohabitation of Christians and Islam followers. It is not possible to ignore such serious topics, whose escalation we can currently see in the Egyptian city of Alexandria, where Christians and Muslims are murdering each other and a diplomatic conflict between Egypt and the Vatican is starting,” Danko emphasized. He added that such behavior does not belong to a civilized society and signals a danger for the near future: a war of religions, which is much worse than any other forms of war.
The SNS deputy leader went on to say that we have to be ready to create guarantee mechanisms that one day Sharia will not be used in Slovakia for punishing instead of the Penal Code. “SNS has always been and will always be a party that categorically rejects all forms of violence and will always vigorously protect the interests of a Christian Slovakia as well as Europe. With its politics, SNS wants to help achieve that there will never occur armed religious conflicts in Christian Slovakia, because that is just a step towards a looming tragedy that recently happened in Alexandria,” he added.
