BRATISLAVA, April 7, (WEBNOVINY) — If Prime Minister Iveta Radicova (SDKU-DS) does not apologize to the opposition SMER-SD party for her statements that the party organized a ball paid for by the Kosice heating plant for the elite of SMER-SD, they will sue her for libel. “We will not tolerate it,” SMER-SD leader Robert Fico told journalists on Thursday. „We will not finance balls in Hilton hotel of the elite of SMER from the Kosice heating plant or other heating plants,“ said Prime Minister Iveta Radicova following the Cabinet’s sitting on Wednesday.

Fico underscored that it is a lie and expects Radicova to retract what she said. According to Fico, not a single SMER-SD representative attended the Kosice ball while the then director of the Kosice heating plant Ladislav Lazar was not a member of the party.

Fico however did not set a deadline for Radicova to apologize the party as according to him she has certain level and can estimate what is appropriate. Fico underscored that the party no longer has patience to tolerate fraud, lies and invectives, which are massively splashed on his party on a daily basis. The apology should be published in the media, he specified. Fico said he minds funding of events as the aforementioned Kosice ball and proposes to resolve it by an amendment to the law.

Spokesman for the prime minister, Rado Bato rushed to answer Fico. According to him, MP Fico is known for devoting more attention to his own lawsuits than to bettering the condition of the judiciary. Good news is that the incumbent government is making steps to accelerate court proceedings. It maybe useful also for deputy Fico, Bato said.
