BRATISLAVA, February 26, (WEBNOVINY) – Foreign Affairs Minister Mikulas Dzurinda has decided to close down Slovakia’s Embassy in Libya due to the unrest in the country. The minister, who is attending the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of Kuwait’s liberation from Iraqi occupation, ordered to close the embassy based on the recommendations by the Slovak Crisis Staff. “We will cover the country from Egypt. Our charge d’affaires has been told to close the embassy and return home as quickly as possible because the situation is very disquieting,” Dzurinda told SITA newswire.
The transportation of Slovak citizens that have asked the ministry to help them return home has advanced, according to Dzurinda. Initially sixteen Slovaks have asked for evacuation but seven of them then decided to stay in Libya.
