BRATISLAVA, June 16, (WEBNOVINY)- Preferences of the announced political parties are on increase. According to the June 3-9 survey conducted by the MVK agency the party Ordinary People of non-partisan MP and leader of the platform of the same name Igor Matovic would harvest 4.7 percent of the vote had parliamentary elections taken place in early June and end up closely below the 5-percent threshold that a political party in Slovakia has to achieve to make it to parliament. The next non-existent party which is being established by ex-member of the parliamentary SNS Anna Belousovova would gain 2.2 percent.
The survey shows that the early June political preferences chart is again topped by SMER–SD, which would receive 38.5 percent of the vote and would occupy 76 seats in the 150-member House. The party would thus be able to govern alone. The ruling coalition would have 72 MPs together. The SDKU-DS remains the strongest coalition member when it earned 13 percent of the vote, which accounts for 26 parliamentary seats. The KDH (8.1 percent) and the SaS (7.8 percent) would have 16 deputy mandates each. The last political party to make it to parliament is the coalition MOST-HID with 7.1 percent of the vote representing 14 parliamentary deputies.
The SMK would not be a parliamentary party as it was supported by a mere 3.3 percent of the decided respondents. The LS-HZDS of ex-prime minister Vladimir Meciar would not be in parliament either, earning 3.2 percent.
Analysts with the MVK agency believe that votes for Belousovova’s new party Nation and Justice would squeeze the preferences of the SNS below 5 percent. The party harvested 3.7 percent in early June.
Of 1,101 respondents, 16.4 percent said they would definitively not participate in the elections and 9.3 percent did not know whether they would vote or whom they would support.
