MFA Dzurinda to Attend Tenth ASEM in Budapest

BRATISLAVA, June 3, (WEBNOVINY) – Foreign Affairs Minister Mikulas Dzurinda will attend the tenth Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) on Monday, June 6 in Budapest dedicated to cooperation and unusual security challenges. The foreign ministers will debate nuclear energy safety, food safety, regional topics and cooperation to counter global consequences of natural disasters.

Foreign ministers of Visegrad Group countries will meet with their Japanese partner Takeaki Matsumoto ahead of the ASEM to evaluate their political dialogue, economic and technological cooperation and project collaboration priorities for the upcoming period. The press department at the Slovak Foreign Ministry reported Friday that V4 ministers are expected to manifest solidarity and readiness to assist Japan in the post-earthquake reconstruction. The meeting will also discuss conclusions of the EU-Japan summit from May 28, cooperation possibilities among V4, Japan and the Eastern Partnership countries, nuclear safety and other global matters.

ASEM clusters 16 Asian countries, 27 EU states, Australia, New Zealand, the Russian Federation, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the European Commission.
