Italian Enel and the state failed to settle privatisation of a 66-percent stake in Slovenske Elektrarne after almost ten years. This fact can play an important role in the sale of Slovenske Elektrarne.
The gas utility Slovensky Pynarensky Priemysel is given a task to elaborate an analysis to assess the possibility of raising state’s stake in the power utility Slovenske Elektrarne. SPP will cooperate with the consulting company KPMG for help.
The state-owned company Slovensky Plynarensky Priemysel (SPP) remains the most important player on the Slovak gas market. Alternative suppliers have repeatedly reduced SPP’s market share moderately.
Thanks to the supportive measures, from 10,000 to 25,000 hybrid or electric cars could be driving in Slovakia in 2020, depending on whether a conservative or optimistic scenario is adopted.
The Slovak government is waiting for decision of the Italian investor in the sale of its majority stake in power utility Slovenske Elektarne, Economy Minister Vazil Hudak said.
The selected advisor will carry out an analysis for the state to assess its possibility to raise its stake in electricity producer Slovenske Elektrarne.
The state has not sent any advisor to the company who would provide a real view of the company in regards to its technical, legal and economic issues, since Italian company Enel officially announced its plan to sell the power utility Slovenske Elektrarne.
The economy ministry states it would be unprofessional and incorrect for the government to reveal its attitude towards the sale of a 66-percent stake in the power utility Slovenske Elektrarne before negotiations with Italian Enel.
According to the newly appointed Economy Minister Vazil Hudak, it is still questionable how the state will proceed with the sale of a 66-percent stake in Slovenske Elektrarne. Everything will depend on negotiations with Enel which are expected to be held by the end of June.
MPs will be first to be informed about the protocol on the results of the control. The Supreme Audit Court is to submit the protocol in dedicated mode to the Parliament by May 20.
The settlement of the additional payment resulting from privatisation is not subject to the current talks, since the state has not yet entered actively the purchase of Slovenske Elektrarne’s shares.
According to the ministry, the state will not agree with the sale of the shares before completing two nuclear blocks in Mochovce. The ministry has again not ruled out that the state will express interest in these shares in some stage of the sale.
