Slovenske Elektrarne intends to transform some of its power plants from traditional fuel to the renewable sources in the future.
Slovenske Elektrarne is not considering any shutdowns of their power plants at the moment. “We have no specific plan to shut down any of our power plants. However, the life of our two coal-fired power plants (editor’s note in Novaky and Vojany) will depend on market conditions,“ the chairman of Slovenske Elektrarne’s Board of Directors Bohumil Kratochvil told Slovak journalists at the conference Atomexpo 2017 in Moscow. The life of the coal-fired power plant in Novaky will, in his opinion, depend also on the subsidy scheme for mining of national coal for electricity generation. The Slovak dominant electricity producer does not plan to construct any new power plant in the near future. Kratochvil says that the completion of the third and fourth nuclear block in Mochovce remains priority.
