The National Nuclear Fund is to receive extra more than 31 million euros in the years 2019 – 2021.

Slovakia is to have more funds for the so-called back-end fuel cycle as of 2019. The Slovak cabinet approved the amendment to the Act on National Nuclear Fund, raising the contribution to the fund paid by the operators of nuclear facilities. The amendment has been submitted by the economy minister. Companies that own a nuclear facility but produce no electricity are expected to pay contributions as well. The National Nuclear Fund is to receive over 31 million euros more from these entities in the years 2019 – 2021. Two companies will be affected by higher contributions, respectively new ones. Slovenske Elektrarne, which owns and operates nuclear units and the state-controlled company Nuclear and Decommissioning Company (JAVYS) which owns nuclear installations that are set to be decommissioned. Under the proposal, Slovenske Elektrarne is to pay 17.7 million euros more in the next three years compared to the currently valid legislation while JAVYS 13.4 million euros.
