The state-controlled company Vodohospodarska Vystavba has selected the winner of the international tender for the general overhaul of the hydropower plant Gabcikovo.
The general overhaul of the hydropower plant Gabcikovo (VEG) may begin more than 1.5 year after the announcement of the international tender. The state-controlled company Vodohospodarska Vystavba, which has been operating the power plant Gabcikovo for four years, has selected a supplier, the consortium of the companies Zdruzenie Gabcikovo. The consortium is willing to carry out the general overhaul for almost 81 million euros. The members of the consortium are Slovak companies CEDIS (a leading member of the association) and HANT BA, Czech company Strojirny Brno and Italian company Todini Construzioni Generali. Three bidders joined the international tender and submitted their proposals for the general overhaul of the largest Slovak hydropower plant, publicly available registers showed. The first unsuccessful candidate, Czech company Metrostav, submitted a bid for more than 99 million euros while the second unsuccessful candidate, Czech company CKD Blansko Engineering, offered almost 137 million euros.
