Setting up a new state energy holding will probably not be as easy as it might seem. The current ruling coalition has agreed to establish this holding which has been on the agenda for almost a decade. The economy ministry says that it is working on this matter. However, the new regulatory act was the centre of attention. „The economy ministry has intensively worked particularly on the price regulation and the amendment to the Act on regulation over the past week. Works on the preparation of the energy holding concept continue,“ a spokesman for the economy ministry, Maros Stano, said without providing further details. The fact that not all energy companies in which the state has stakes may be incorporated into the holding company may pose a problem. One of such companies is, for instance, Slovenska Elektrizacna Prenosova Sustava (SEPS) whose sole shareholder is the finance ministry.
