BRATISLAVA, February 19, (WEBNOVINY)- President Ivan Gasparovic was released from hospital on Saturday, his spokesman Marek Trubac told SITA on Saturday. The head of state underwent successful hip-joint surgery at the hospital in Bratislava borough of Kramare five days ago, during which his joint was replaced. Trubac said that the president now will have to rehabilitate for a week.
The operation was a standard procedure without any complications. It took 68 minutes and the head of state woke up ten minutes after the surgery finished. The president had been suffering from hip problems for several years and after he recently had acute pains he had to be operated on. It was the reason why he gave up sports, but he would be happy to start skiing or playing tennis again after the surgery.
