BRATISLAVA, September 16, (WEBNOVIN) – Slovak Prime Minister Iveta Radicova is to leave for a visit to the U.S. on September 19. US President Barack Obama has invited her to the Open Government Partnership (OGP) forum taking place on Tuesday, September 20 in New York. The aim of the forum is to discuss aspects of open government based on transparency, responsibility, civic engagement and fight against corruption.
As the Cabinet Office informed SITA, in his letter Obama wrote that he is glad that current Slovak government decided to participate in creating new partnership in the field of open governance. He also claims to be looking forward to personally meet Radicova in New York. As he further writes, founding members plan signing a declaration on open governance at the launch of the event, introducing the objectives of joint initiative. They will also familiarize themselves with individual government’s positions on Open Governance Partnership. Radicova is taking part in the event within her working visit to the United States next week.
The OGP is a new multilateral initiative to promote transparency, empower citizens, fight corruption, and harness new technologies to strengthen governance. President Obama and Brazilian head of state Dilma Rousseff are the co-chairs of the initiative.
