BRATISLAVA, October 26, (WEBNOVINY) — Members of the Slovak Parliament rejected the draft constitutional bill to limit their immunity from prosecution in case of criminal cases just to statements made in parliament, as only 75 of 136 present lawmakers voted for the norm on Tuesday. All deputies for the ruling coalition quartet, SDKU-DS, SaS, KDH and MOST-HID, supported the piece of legislation along with SNS representatives Anna Belousovova and Rudolf Pucik. The strongest opposition party SMER-SD and the remaining SNS lawmakers voted down the bill. The coalition needed ninety votes to push the norm through.
As a result, Justice Minister Lucia Zitnanska withdrew from Parliament a revision to the Penal Code, as it relates to the failed draft constitutional bill.
