BRATISLAVA, August 5, (WEBNOVINY) — The ruling SMER-SD party would become the election winner were parliamentary elections held at the turn of August and September. The party of Prime Minister Robert Fico would garner 43.6 percent. The OLaNO of Igor Matovic follows with 8.8 percent. The third SDKU-DS would have support of 8.1 percent of those polled. The Polis agency conducted a phone survey for the news-only channel TA3 between August 27 and September 1 on a sample of 1.266 respondents.
The poll outcome shows that the opposition KDH would have representatives in parliament, too when it won 7.9 percent. MOST-HID has support from 7 percent of respondents and the SaS from 6.5 percent. The SNS and SMK would stay away from parliament when they earned 4.8 percent both. LS-HZDS of three-fold Prime Minister Vladimir Meciar would not reach the 5-percent threshold for making it to parliament either when it has trust of 1.8 percent of those polled.
Proportionately to the achieved results SMER-SD would have 80 MPs, OLaNO 16, SDKU-DS 15, KDH 14, MOST-HID 13 and the SaS 12. Preferences were counted based on a 57-percent turnout. Twenty-two percent of those polled would not come to the polls while 21 percent were undecided on whom to vote for. The survey did not ask respondents about the new party of ex-KDH member Daniel Lipsic called New Majority.
