BRATISLAVA, February 27, (WEBNOVINY) – Demands which organizers of the protests against the Gorilla graft case present to the prime minister, president or parliament speaker are submitted only on their behalf. They do not feel like spokespeople for all Slovaks. “I don’t have a mandate from anyone, I represent only myself,” told SITA Lucia Gallova, one of the organizers, upon being asked in whose name they submit the demands. All calls which they submit to constitutional officials are, according to her, elaborated in cooperation with the lawyers.

The head of pollster Polis Jan Baranek criticized the organizers on Monday, stating that the number of protesters last Friday was the same as number of participants of this Saturday’s march for animal rights. As Baranek put it, then the question is whether their demands are legitimate. “Whose opinions do these people represent? The number of protesters dropped dramatically, I don’t know what their legitimacy is based upon,” told Baranek SITA. “When their number is at the same level as at dog rights rally, it’s a very week basis for anyone to go discuss with them,” enclosed Baranek.

Organizers of the protests ask the parliament speaker to immediately call a parliament session where abandoning the early election should be discussed. They also ask the president to organize a meeting of civic representatives of the Gorilla protests with representatives of political parties in order to discuss creating a caretaker cabinet. Among their demands is also a call to the Constitutional Court to immediately act and issue a position to the whole process which led to the announcement of the early election.

This Wednesday the protest organizers plan surrounding the Parliament and plan to keep the MPs in the House unless they abolish their immunity from criminal prosecution, informed one of the organizers Peter Pcolinsky. As he further informed, the citizens decided in a Facebook discussion that a protest should be staged also in front of Penta offices in Petrzalka.
