Eustream’s project is expected to increase energy safety and reduce gas price.

The gas pipeline Eastring is expected to increase the energy safety and reduce the gas price for consumers, Vice-President for the Energy Union Maros Sefcovic said at the presentation of the results of the project’s feasibility study. The study analyzed the links among Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria. „Slovakia has been playing an important role in the gas transit from the East to the West for more than 50 years,“ Economy Minister Peter Ziga said. In his words, the connection between the Northern and Southern Europe is a big challenge for Slovakia and gas companies. The transit is no longer enough. The chairman of Eustream’s Board of Directors Tomas Marecek said that the gas pipeline will be around 1,200 kilometers long and the construction could be kicked off in 2022. The first stage could be finished in 2025.
