BRATISLAVA, October 17, (WEBNOVINY) — Outgoing Prime Minister Iveta Radicova should head the Slovak delegation at Sunday’s meeting of the European Council and eurozone member states. This stems from a material of the Foreign Affairs Ministry submitted for interdepartmental review. The material further states that the ministry in cooperation with the Cabinet Office proposed the composition of the delegation, while the prime minister should determine the final composition.
The eurozone summit is to focus on resolving the debt crisis and evaluation of the present Brussels’ strategy. The meeting will also discuss the European Council’s draft plan to recapitalize European banks. Eurozone members should also debate the situation in Greece as well as results of the monitoring mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the European Commission and the European Central Bank. The European Council is to devote attention to internal aspects of the EU economic policy with impact on implementation of the Europe 2020 strategy and on areas to support the union’s internal economic growth. The European Council will also present the union’s common position on issues such as strengthening of the IMF supervision, management of capital flows and possibilities of further use of IMF instruments.
