BRATISLAVA, February 6, (WEBNOVINY) – The center-right SDKU-DS of Mikulas Dzurinda is just above the elections threshold with 5.3 percent, according to a representative poll conducted by the pollster Prieskumy. Opposition SMER-SD remains the most popular party with 41.5 percent. Regarding center-right parties, the poll confirmed the leading position of KDH (10.8 percent).
MOST-HID is supported by 8.2 percent of voters, Richard Sulik’s SaS 5.9 percent and Ordinary People and Independent Personalities 5.6 percent. SDKU-DS, which was the strongest member of the outgoing coalition, is the last party that would make it to Parliament. No other party would garner the necessary 5 percent. Given this outcome, SMER-SD would be able to form a one-party Cabinet with 81 mandates in Parliament. KDH would have 21 MPs, MOST-HID 16 and SaS and Ordinary People and Independent Personalities would fill 11 seats each. The losing SDKU-DS would have 10 representatives.
Candidates on the slate of the party 99 %- Civic Vote would collect 4.8 percent, SNS 3.9 percent and SMK 3 percent. LS-HZDS and the Nora Mojsejova’s Free Word Party (SSS) would garner 2 percent each and the state would return the election deposit to them.
The pollster surveyed 1,024 respondents in structured interview in the last week of January 2012. A total of 39.4 percent of those polled would definitely go and cast their ballots. 31.1 percent said they were more inclined to go to voting booths. The remaining 29.5 percent include the answers of individuals more inclined to ignore the elections, those that were firmly decided not to participate in the ballot and those that were not able to answer the question. Respondents were asked which political entity they would vote for in the general elections on March 10, 2012.
