BRATISLAVA, December 17, (WEBNOVINY) — Newly appointed Armed Forces Chief of General Staff, Major General Peter Vojtek, wants to carry on with long-term plans for development of the Slovak Armed Forces in fields where continuity will bolster the fulfillment of their tasks. At the same time he is ready to push for changes ensuing from the experience. In his opinion, a lack of finances for development of the Armed Forces requires a more efficient system replenishing commodities and a more intensive care of the already procured equipment and material.
Participation of the Slovak military in international crisis management missions remains one of the priorities, according to Vojtek. In his words, the Slovak army has proven that the country is an equal partner not only at the negotiating table but also in military operations. “We are part of the modern world and our membership in the club of advanced countries solving crises worldwide is unquestionable,” Vojtek remarked.
A stable personnel situation will also be high on his agenda. To preserve trust of the public in the army at high rates, Vojtek plans to intensify relations with interest groups, military veterans and families of full-time career soldiers, spokesperson for the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic, Milan Vanga, informed.
