BRATISLAVA, February 27, (WEBNOVINY)- The decision of the Slovak Cabinet to distribute for free 45,000 tons of flour and eggless pasta made from intervention grain among people in need is not a marketing move, underscored Agriculture Minister Zsolt Simon in a regular political discussion on STV on Sunday. He said that he is regrets a little that the situation in informing about the prepared steps was misused. He said that the Cabinet of Iveta Radicova got on the already moving train as the use of intervention grain supplies for humanitarian purposes was the decision of the previous government.
SMER-SD Deputy Chairman Peter Kazimir insists that it was a propagandist gesture, which however failed. He said that the opposition is not critical about the EU program, through which the EU provides such aid to countries but it does not like the method of communication of the current government and the way it wants to use the grain. He does not like as well that the government came up with the plan just when the information came to light on higher food prices. The SMER figure labeled the decision offending and insensitive. He underscored that the released intervention supplies are destined for humanitarian purposes. At the time he said when the government of Robert Fico has applied to participate in the program Slovakia was grappling with floods and their consequences and there was a “certain humanitarian crisis” here. Kazimir believes that the subsidized foodstuffs can be used also in other way than the current government plans it.
