BRATISLAVA, December 3, (WEBNOVINY)- LS-HZDS leader Vladimir Meciar believes that his party will make it to parliament after next year’s early elections. Meciar who is the party’s leader to the March 10 race met with journalists after the party’s nomination congress on Saturday. He said it was painful for him to see the situation in which Slovakia has found itself over the last two years when almost 600,000 people live on the edge of poverty. According to him people should not trust new political groupings that will cheat them at any rate and will have similar fate as their predecessors. Meciar underscored that it would be beneficial for Slovakia if LS-HZDS returns to power. It would be the beginning of a realistic pro-Slovak policy, he stated.
The LS-HZDS boss informed that if the party does not make it to parliament next year he and his mates in the party leadership quit on March 11. However, it will not be the end of the LS-HZDS, he underscored since it is the biggest party in Slovakia. “It will not be a tragedy in our lives but it would be a pity for Slovakia. We do not have parties concentrating so much experience. We want a change of the situation,” said Meciar.
Meciar is the No. 1 on the LS-HZDS slate followed by Sergej Kozlik, Katarina Tothova, Milan Rehak, Jozef Pavuk, Jan Kovarcik, Rudolf Pitak, Eva Zatkova, Jan Dobrovic and Tibor Cabaj.
